Tree of Heaven Bud Vase
Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus Altissimo) is a tree native to northeast and central China as well as Taiwan. It was introduced and widely naturalized in North America during much of the 19th century, and is now considered an invasive species due to its fast growth and tendency to crowd out other native tree species. The City of Portland is diligent in cutting these trees down whenever they are spotted, and I always try to get my hands on as much of the wood as possible. Lumber from the Tree of Heaven has a beautiful open grain, and ranges in color from a pale yellow to dark gray with streaks of black.
This Vase measures in at around four and a half inches tall, and three and a quarter inches wide at its widest point. It features an easy to clean, removable glass tube which can be filled with water to extend the life of your flowers. It is finished in a highly polished shellac, and has a semi gloss appearance.
All of my pieces are made to an heirloom standard and are meant to be enjoyed for generations to come.
