This elegant bottle vase is made from a local maple tree which died naturally in 2019, the owner got in contact with me about a year later once the tree began to fall down. I cut, milled, and dried the wood myself, and am just now able to begin offering products made from this beautiful spalted wood. Spalted Maple is not a species of maple, but rather maple that has begun to experience the early stages of decay. Partial decay causes beautiful patterns, along with rich streaks of dark brown, and lines of deep black. The wood is still perfectly stable, and this vase will last lifetimes with proper care.

The vase itself is nine inches tall and three inches in diameter at its base. It features a removable glass tube which can be filled with water to prolong the lives of flowers. It is finished in a blend of polymerized linseed oil and local beeswax which give it a matte appearance. All of my pieces are made to an heirloom standard and are meant to be enjoyed for generations to come.
