Douglass Fir is Oregon's state tree, and is commonly used in construction lumber all around North America. A burl is a knobby looking growth on the base or trunk of a tree which results in unusual and beautiful grain patterns and colors. Douglas Fir burl is very rare, I was given a small piece by a friend who works in sustainable forestry, just enough to make this tiny micro vase. Although this vase is tiny, the grain is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen, it would make a great addition to your home, and is built to heirloom standard to be enjoyed for many years. The vase is truly tiny at around two and a half inches tall, and two and a half inches in diameter at its widest point. The interior of this vase is not water proof, and it is too small for a removable glass tube; therefore, it should only be used to display dried flowers.
